Running Time: 102 Minutes.
Half a star out of 4.
Robert De Niro and Zac Efron team up in Director Dan Mazer's, Dirty Grandpa. This "road trip" comedy is absolutely awful. C'mon Robert De Niro, you are way better than this! Even the one or two charming moments and pretty girls cannot save this movie. It clearly shows that charm alone is not enough to save a dreadful movie. I felt bad that De Niro had to be in this film, and I assume that the paycheque must have been enough to get him on board, and to get him to say/do all these despicable and offensive things. While neither Efron nor De Niro deliver bad performances, the script from Writer John M. Philips offers no comedic moments or interesting development between the two characters. I understand that for a January release you should not expect character development or any form of an arch, but you should at least get some laughs and enjoy yourself during a cold January. Director Dan Mazer and Screenwriter John M. Philips probably wrote the script over lunch and relied on the star power of De Niro and Efron to pull in the crowds. It clearly did not work. Save your money and discomfort, and instead watch 2013's Jackass Presents on Netflix
