Director David Mackenzie's Hell or High Water might just be the breakout hit of the Summer, as Hell or High Water is truly something spectacular. Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine both do solid work in their roles, but the true standout of this film is Ben Foster, playing the role of Tanner Howard, a down on his luck man, who turns to robbery in order to save his family farm. Foster truly loses himself in the role, and is truly a menacing and questionable figure throughout the duration of the film. When Foster is not on screen, you miss him, and you miss the energy that he brought to the role. While this film does have long stretches that I felt were overly dramatic and poorly paced, it makes up for it, with it's strong screenplay and performances from it's top tier cast, that I hope are remembered come Awards season.
