James Bond is back and better than ever in SKYFALL, the twenty third film in the James Bond 007 franchise. Skyfall packs impressive cinemtography, great acting, and an amazing story. Oscar winning director Sam Mendes, takes Daniel Craig's Bond to a whole new level, and Skyfall is one of the years best, and definitely one of the best Bond films ever.
In Skyfall M(Judi Dench) past secrets and "sins" come back to haunt her and puts MI6 and James Bond(Daniel Craig) in danger. The mastermind is someone who is always one step ahead of the game. Cast members also include, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomi Harris.
Skyfall is one of the best films of the year, it is sexy, smart, mysterious, and well acted, directed, written and photographed. This is a Bond film with less visual and special effects, and more storyline. Skyfall had very sad scenes, and makes you care for these characters, and justifies why you love and care for them.
The standout performance for me is Javier Bardem' Raoul Silva, because Bardem(being the villain) is smart, very funny, and insightful, and when he is not on screen, makes you wish he were. Bardem's villanous performance reminded of late Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, in the way that both villains have great and always funny humour, as well as a great plan. Also, Judi Dench as M stood out to me for being the emotional heart of the film, and keeps Bond sane during the crazy times, and even if she does something wrong, you still root for her. M has tough choices to make that affect Bond as well as MI6.
Skyfall features references to previous James Bond instalments that just make you smile. The character revelations, and plot twists resemble that of previous franchise film, and this being the 50th anniversary year for the franchise, SKYFALL reminds the audience why we love James Bond, and why he is so iconic, without feeling like a history lesson.
I would highly recommend viewing SKYFALL in IMAX, as you get to experience the great photography and scenes filmed by legend Roger Deakins, on a larger than life screen.
SKYFALL is one of the years best. I had an absolute blast while watching, and I cannot wait to see the next installment.
