14A) The Hangover Part III
Warner Bros Pictures.
Running Time: 102 Minutes.
3 stars out of 4.
The original Hangover film was released in 2009 to critical and commercial success, and won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy. In 2011 a sequel titled Part 2 was released where the cast and crew tried to duplicate the success of the first film by having the exact same plot, and jokes. Part 2 was released to commercial success but was a critical disaster. The cast and crew of the original two films have returned to "the final film in The Wolfpack Trilogy." When one of their own is kidnapped by an angry gangster, the Wolf Pack must track down Mr. Chow, who has escaped from prison and is on the lam.(COURTESY IMDB) The Hangover Pat 111 is a different, original, satisfying and funny finale to "Todd Philips Wolfpack Trilogy."
2009's The Hangover is one of my favourite movies. It was original, and downright funny. The "what happened last night" premise that director Todd Philips told the story was very interesting different, and funny. The Hangover went on to gross over $400 million at the worldwide box office, and was "critically acclaimed, because of the success Warner Bros and the filmmakers made a 2011 sequel that was commercially successful but not critically because many complained that it was too similar to the first instalment. The Hangover Part 11 still grossed over $500 million domestically, and is the highest grossing R Rated Comedy of All Time. For some random reason, Warner Bros and Todd Philips announced a third and final instalment to The Hangover Trilogy.
The Hangover Part 111 is very different that the previous two films, mostly because there is no hangover in this film. Also, this film is an action thriller, with some very funny comedic moments. This film is a kidnap story, that is suspenseful and very fun to watch. After watching the film you might be disappointed because with a film titled The Hangover Part 111, you will be expecting a funny "what happened last night" story like the original two films, and with no hangover you will be disappointed. But if you go in expecting a fun and entertaining film, and know that this is going to be a darker and more suspenseful film than the first two films, than you will enjoy this film.
The acting in this film is great, the dynamic between the wolfpack is awesome, and the performances that these guys give are funny and believable. The standout for me is Zach Galifinakis who just like the original two films is very, very funny as the crazy Alan character. John Goodman also leads a stellar supporting cast.
My main problem with the film is that there is no hangover, and because of that there is alot less humour than the first film. Also, the kidnap story that is told throughout the film is original and fun but contains little humour.
