14A) The Martian (TIFF 2015)

Picture
20th Century Fox.
14A
Running Time: 122 Minutes.
3 stars out of 4.

Ridley Scott's triumphant return to blockbuster cinema is nothing short of amazing with The Martian. Fuelled by a tour de force, career best performance from Matt Damon. The Martian outdoes both Interstellar and Gravity in telling a relatable, and interesting science fiction space story. Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, and Jeff Daniels lead a stellar supporting cast. The screenplay written by Drew Goddard is one of this years best, containing funny and memorable lines, as well as being deeply moving, sophisticated, and mesmerizing. The Martian might just be one of the best movie of the year, and is a film that deserves to be remembered come awards season.
